Three incredible Keynote Speakers will join us for Open Education 2009!


Fred Mulder
Fred Mulder is Rector of Open Universiteit Nederland (OUNL) since September 2000. He has a chair as Professor in Informatics Education at OUNL since 1991, after having started to work at OUNL in its pioneering years in 1983. Dr. Mulder is on the Executive Committee of EADTU (European Association of Distance Teaching Universities) since 2002, and leading a National Initiative on Lifelong Learning since 2005. He is chairing the Task Forces on Open Educational Resources of both EADTU and ICDE.
Catherine Ngugi
Catherine Ngugi
Catherine Ngugi is the Project Director for OER Africa. She established the AVU Research & Innovation Facility (RIF) in January 2005 and managed it until September 2007. She holds an MA from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies and is a Rockefeller Associate of the African Gender Institute, University of Cape Town. Having worked in both the private and the public sector, in Anglophone and Francophone Africa, Catherine brings to OER Africa her experience in project management and a high level of inter-personal skills.

Ken Freedman
Ken Freedman is the Station Manager and Program Director of WFMU, the legendary freeform radio station. Under his leadership, WFMU has become an international leader in combining radio with new web-based technologies and social media. WFMU is now the most heavily trafficked radio site on the internet. Freedman serves as a technology advisor to the National Federation of Community Broadcasters. He also founded and oversees the Free Music Archive, an open source library of copyright-cleared music and audio that will combine the curatorial role of stations like WFMU with the community-generated ethos of the web.
